Subject: COVID-19 Coronavirus Update – Spring Football 2020
The Texas Youth Football Association (TYFA) has always made the safety of our players and their families paramount. As information continues to become available regarding the increased risk of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we wanted to provide you, our players, teams, and volunteers, with additional guidance and information on TYFA’s plan when it comes to the upcoming 2020 Spring football season.
AS OF TODAY, WE ARE STILL PLANNING ON HAVING A 2020 SPRING FOOTBALL SEASON… We are continuing to gather information from national and local health agencies to ensure that we have all of the relevant information before making a decision to postpone or even cancel the 2020 Spring Football Season. We would ask for your patience at this time as we are in uncharted waters and we want to make sure we do not make a knee-jerk reaction and make the wrong decision.
As stated above, the safety of our members, players and volunteers is our 1st and foremost priority. I understand that being in limbo is difficult and some of you are waiting on our decision so that you can order uniforms etc… but please be patient with us as we have never in our history had to deal with a virus outbreak.
We had a conference call this past Friday to discuss the season and its effect on the spring season and we will be discussing the situation again today and all of the viable options available to us.
We will have a decision within the next 24 hours if not sooner.
